James Gordon Asberry
November 23, 1945 – October 25, 2016

james-asberry-1477483402James Gordon Asberry, 70, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 23, 1945 in Clinton County, Kentucky to the late James O. and Mattie S. (Hayes) Asberry.

He retired from Chrysler Corporation in October of 2001 following 35 years of service, where he was a member of UAW, Local #371. An avid outdoorsman, Jim loved to tinker around the house and create many humorous art projects. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren, loved to laugh and make others laugh, and never liked to be negative or serious.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Asberry of New Castle; two children, Angela Joann (Dennis J.) Libby and Kelly Gordon (Carrie) Asberry both of New Castle; stepson, Christopher W. (Dana) Hancock of Pittsboro, IN; five grandchildren, Samantha Orr, Austin Orr, Levi Asberry, Blake Asberry, and Tyler Hancock; step grandsons, Ty Adams and Shane Libby; great granddaughter, Emma Diane Asberry; two step great grandsons, Logan and Landon Libby; sisters, Monrie Neisler of Wheaton, IL, Fay (Dan) Fairchild of Mt. Summit, Darlene (Steve) Riggs of Greensboro; brothers, Conway (Betty) Asberry, Vasco Asberry, and Johnnie (Betty) Asberry all of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vonda Morgan and a brother, Donald Asberry.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jeff Jaco officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the funeral home.
