History:

The building which houses the Middletown Civic Center was erected during the 1890’s. Over its long history, it has housed a variety of restaurants, a grocery store, a barber shop, a Chinese laundry, a plumber and many other businesses. In the 1990’s the building stood empty and abandoned. The roof had caved in and the west wall was falling. Through fund-raising and grants, the town was able to restore the structure to its 1890’s glory and open it as the town’s Civic Center. Its two separate floors are available. The facility has a piano, kitchen, and elevator, along with ample parking adjacent to the Center.
