Mission Statement

Guided by Christian love, Westminster Community Center seeks to serve all of God’s people, to enrich the live of children, to nurture the family, and to improve the well-being of the community.

History:

The founder of the Center was Rev. David Tallman who served as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, New Castle. The mission began in August, 1956 sponsored by the National Missions of the United Presbyterian Church. The activities of the center were geared toward helping children interact in programs. While parents were given counsel regarding budgeting, health, marriage, and parenting issues. After-school programs were provided throughout our history. Some children even attended kindergarten at Westminster. The Center was also used in the 1980’s for a Head Start site. In the 1980s a Food Pantry and Clothing Room began and still exists. Programs have come and programs have gone, bur our interest has always been to meet the needs of the low-income families of Henry County, IN.
