Directory of Indiana Grantmakers Available
Looking for a way to fund a project, program, or general operating for your non-profit or government organization? Help can now be found using the Directory of Indiana Grantmakers online database from the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance! The Henry County Community Foundation recently purchased a subscription to this research tool, which offers a host of options when searching for grant opportunities.
What is it? A database to search for grant funding sources.
Where is it? Located ONLY at the New Castle-Henry County Public Library. Visit the Information or Circulation Desk and a librarian will assist you.
How can I use it? You can search for a grant by a keyword, area of interest, or the kind of support needed.
After asking a librarian to log on to the database (you will need to have a NCHC Public Library card or guest pass to use the computer), individuals can proceed with two types of searches. First, a “Data Search” lets you search as a Google search would: by typing in key words. You are also given more specific interest areas, such as animals, child care, or literacy, with boxes to check to narrow your search. Searchers can also look for particular types of support, including award or project grants, or even help with equipment needs. After filling in the search criteria, be sure to click on the blue “SEARCH” button to bring up the results for your data.
The search will then yield a set of results listing organizations that can help meet your needs. The list provided by the database is updated regularly, with general information about organizations including location, type of foundation, contact information, and application procedures and requirements.
Users also have the option to “View All Grantmakers,” which brings up an alphabetical list of the foundations in the database.
The Henry County Community Foundation hopes this new tool will further assist our non-profit organizations with funding opportunities. Make a Difference, Henry County.
