All Aboard the Choose Henry Express: Spring 2026 Edition
By: Jennifer Fox
On a bright spring morning, a bus full of community-minded donors set out to see the impact of generosity in action across Henry County. The Spring 2026 Choose Henry Express was a moving reminder of what’s possible when people come together to invest in the places they call home.
At the heart of this journey is the Choose Henry Flex Fund, a resource built by donors who care deeply about this community. Its flexibility allows the Henry County Community Foundation to respond where the need is greatest, supporting projects that enhance everyday life today and for the future.
Building on the success of our inaugural tour last October, this spring’s experience invited donors to see firsthand how their contributions are revitalizing parks and recreational spaces across the county.
Our Spring Stops
Baker Park & New Castle Parks and Recreation
This park has long benefited from Choose Henry, including grants that helped revitalize the Baker Pool Aquatic Center, build the Action Sports Park, and add new playground equipment. Continued support ensures the Aquatic Center remains operational through lifeguard certifications, while recent enhancements include new shelters and bike repair stations.
Lewisville Community Park
A staple since the 1950s, the Lewisville Skating Rink has served generations of residents. After decades of wear, a Choose Henry grant supported critical resurfacing and structural improvements, transforming the rink into a safer, more accessible space for the community to gather and enjoy. In addition to the rink, the Choose Henry Flex Fund has also helped install a disc golf course, upgrade the shelter and playground, repair the ball diamond, and add a handicap-accessible restroom.
Sunset Park & Knightstown Parks
Investments in these spaces have supported both restoration and growth, including the addition of the Knightstown Splash Pad. Beyond physical upgrades like ballpark fence replacements, funding has also strengthened operations through technology improvements, including website development and donor management systems.
Henry County Memorial Park
As a site of sustained investment, Memorial Park has received several grants over the years. Recent projects include shelter renovations, improved lighting around Shively Lake, and the addition of a new disc golf course, ensuring the park remains a welcoming place for recreation, reflection, and connection.
We are especially grateful to Duke Energy for helping make the Spring 2026 Choose Henry Express bus tour experience possible and for connecting donors more closely to the impact of their giving.
And to the donors of the Choose Henry Flex Fund – thank you for supporting your community! Your generosity shows up in the spaces where families gather, neighbors connect, and m
emories are made. By giving to Choose Henry, you are making a lasting, meaningful difference and improving the quality of life in Henry County.
