Ann (Smiley) Stamps, 71, of Viera, Florida, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, August 31, 2015 at Hospice Vitas in Viera, following a courageous five year battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born August 24, 1944 in Rushville, Indiana, a daughter of the late Gerald and Maxine (Walker) Smiley.
Ann was a 1962 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. Early in life she worked at Smiley Body Shop and then Western Electric in Indianapolis for several years. She enjoyed country music, dancing, playing cards and especially shopping with her daughter-in-law, Marlen. She was a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) and was active in the Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Troy (wife: Marlen) Tutterrow of Viera, Florida; her step-children, Mark (wife: Sandy) Stamps, Jane (husband: Bill) Blevins, Pam Tibbot and Bev (husband: Bill) Wilburn; 13 grandchildren including, Colby, Jordan and Kassandra Tutterrow all of Viera; two brothers, John (wife: Anita) Smiley and Jeff (wife: Kathy) Smiley of New Castle and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Les Stamps and three sisters, Claudia Rogers, Sue Clayborn and Sally Meredith.
A memorial service honoring Ann’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Ferrell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
