David J Sutherland, 62, of New Castle passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023, at his residence following a three-year battle with cancer. He was born March 18, 1960, in New Castle to Max L. and Rulon (Hupp) Sutherland.

David was a 1978 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. He had been employed by Allegheny Ludlum and the Henry County Hospital for several years. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. David enjoyed fishing with his brother, woodworking, working around his home but especially loved being with family, watching his girls playing sports (especially when his girls played high school soccer), and playing with his grandson, Milo. He also enjoyed his cat, Ernie.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beth Ann (Chappell) Sutherland, daughters, Cara Sutherland and Katie (Luke) Rowles; grandson, Milo; mother, Rulon Sutherland; brother, Mike (Loretta) Sutherland; mother-in-law, Betty Chappell; brothers in law, Steve (Mary Lou) Chappell, Greg (Amy) Chappell and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Max L. Sutherland, father-in-law, Merrill Chappell, and a special uncle, Jim Hupp.
