Gary J. “Joe” Marcum

Gary J. “Joe” Marcum, 52, of New Castle, passed away November 28, 2016 at The Waters of New Castle following an extended illness.

Joe was born November 10, 1964 in New Castle, the youngest son of Gary A. Marcum and the late Wanda Faye Marcum.

He was a 1983 graduate of New Castle High School and later completed the Methodist Hospital Paramedic program earning an EMT-P certification. During his career as a paramedic he worked for several EMS services including New Castle-Henry County EMS. Most recently he was employed by Keihin IPT in Greenfield.

Joe was known for his sense of humor and would always become the center of attention at a social gathering. He loved sports and was an avid fan of the Colts and Notre Dame football. Mostly, he will be remembered for his love of family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his son Zach (Morgan) Marcum, and daughters Jordan and Logan Marcum, all of New Castle; grandchildren, Evelyn and Colten Marcum and Ava Norris all of New Castle; father Gary A. Marcum of New Castle; brother, Jamey (Terri) Marcum of New Castle; nephew Keith (Eliza) Marcum of Nashville, TN., niece Alyssa Marcum of Washington D.C; aunts, Delana Eid of Bloomington and Janis Maple of Indianapolis; and several cousins, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Faye Marcum.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 5 p.m. at Marcum Community Funeral Home with Pastors Paul and Rick Davis officiating. Family and friends may call from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. prior to service. Cremation will follow with burial at a future date.
