Helping the Helpers: Standing Together to Feed our Neighbors

In Henry County, we’ve always looked out for one another. When times get tough, our neighbors, churches, and local organizations step up to lend a hand. From volunteers stocking pantry shelves to nonprofits organizing food drives, our community has a long tradition of caring for each other.

Now, as food costs continue to rise and changes to SNAP benefits create new challenges, that caring spirit is more important than ever. Many of our local helpers are already preparing to meet the growing need.

At the Henry County Community Foundation, we want to make sure that our local organizations have the support they need to keep doing what they do best.

That’s why we’ve opened the Feeding Henry County Fund, dedicated to supporting Henry County food pantries and organizations working to fight hunger.

If you’d like to be part of this effort, you can give to the fund through the Henry County Community Foundation website or send a check by mail to P.O. Box 6006, New Castle, IN 47362.

At this time, many of our local food pantries are not in need of food donations. Some of our local organizations are pressed for space and volunteers. Instead of sending items, we strongly recommend monetary donations to support our established, trusted relief organizations. Financial contributions allow these agencies to purchase exactly what is needed, when it is needed, ensuring appropriate and timely aid.

Together, we can make sure the helpers in our community have the resources to keep helping others.

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Because when we come together as donors, volunteers, and neighbors, we can ensure hope and help reach every corner of our community.
