How Does the Grant Cycle Work?

Did you know the Henry County Community Foundation granted over $1.6 million in 2021? While some grants are made through designated funds and scholarship funds, the Choose Henry Flex Fund provides community grants to address local needs and enhance our community.

In 1985, generous donors across Henry County came together to establish the Choose Henry Flex Fund because they wanted to help our community’s causes thrive. Since then, thousands of donations, large and small, have been pooled to maximize the benefit to Henry County residents.

The Foundation hosts spring and fall grant cycles to assist local groups who promote and support human services, arts and culture, health and recreation, civic affairs, and the educational needs of Henry County residents.

Some of the largest impact grants from the Choose Henry Flex fund have included assisting economic development with putting in infrastructure on 400 South which helped develop sites where TS Tech, Boar’s Head, and Micronutrients have invested and provided over 1,000 jobs. Another larger impact grant supported the Henry County Ivy Tech Community College campus, preparing local citizens for their careers.

In addition, the “Choose Henry” Flex Fund enabled the Foundation to provide $100,000 for Match Day in 2017, which generated nearly $350,000 for local nonprofits.

None of this would be possible without the generous giving of our donors. Each dollar given to the Foundation grows overtime to make these lasting, positive changes.

HCCF held the 2022 Spring Grant Workshop at the beginning of February, and the process will continue from there. We can’t wait to see how the community grows through this cycle!

Stay tuned to hear about one of our grant recipients from Spring 2021 and how they’ve used their funding to make a difference in our next article!
