Ina Jane Craig, 97, of New Castle. The Gates of Heaven opened up on Saturday, February 4, 2023 for Ina at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in New Castle and previously of Grand Avenue Commons. With many family members from the Dishman family in Monticello KY, Slickford KY, and New Castle that have preceded her in death to welcome Ina. She was born in Slickford, KY on July 11, 1925, to the late Oakley and Ola (Dishman) Dishman.

She moved to New Castle at a young age and was employed at many places including, KFC where she met Col. Sanders, Bud Alexander’s, Kumfy Togs, Firestone, Modernfold, ICAP and Guide Lamp in Anderson. Later on in Ina’s life she drove a bus for New Castle on Wheels, volunteered at the Henry County Hospital gift shop, and was a caregiver at Raintree Square.

On December 26, 1945, Ina married the love of her life Dallas Craig and was married for 58 years until the passing of Dallas in 2003. Together they raised 4 children. Ina was affiliated with many Churches over the years in New Castle and was a Christian since the age of 8.

Ina loved making quilts, cooking, gardening, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Helen Bell; sons, Denny Craig and Dale (Connie) Craig; grandchildren, Mike Bell, Chantelle (Joe) Smith, Heather Logan, Andy Craig and Adam (Lily) Craig; great grandchildren, Lynette, Alexandria, Dylan, Brianna, Samantha, Tyler, Tristan, Landen, Dawson, Hannah, Logan and Luna; great-great grandson, Mason; brother, Sterlie (Norma) Dishman along with several nieces and nephews; special friends and family Dennis and Cathy Hamilton.

In addition to her parents Ina is preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Craig; son, Dennis Craig; grandson, Joseph Bell; sisters, Glenna Davis, Vena Shanks, Gladys Harding; brothers, Cledith Dishman, Cecil Dishman; daughter-in-law Pamela Craig; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Henry Community Hospice and the caring staff at Hickory Creek.

Services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday February 9, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Cancer Society.
