Jimmy R. Hicks, 76, of New Castle, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at Henry County Hospital. He was born March 30, 1939 in Wayne County, Kentucky a son of Paul and Anna Lou (Butler) Hicks.
Jim retired from International Union of Operating Engineers #103 where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years. He owned and operated two taverns in New Castle during the 1970’s. Jim raised Limousin cattle for many years and was a member of the North American Limousin Foundation, Indiana Beef Cattle Association and Indiana Limousin Association.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judith “Judy” (Goodwin) Hicks of New Castle; two sons, Mark (Penny) Hicks of Lewisville and Marty (Angie) Hicks of Knightstown; five grandchildren, Brett (Shawna) Hicks of Spiceland, Hilary Hicks (fiancée, Dusty Bennett) of New Castle, Addison, Payton and Graham Hicks all of Knightstown; two great grandchildren, Myah Bennett and Ian Hicks; a sister, Madonna (Brad) Smith of Spiceland; a brother, Larry Hicks of Kentucky; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Hicks and Anna Lou Steele; a sister, Sue Grider; and two infant brothers.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 3, at the funeral home.
