Meet Our Volunteer, Lisa Pfenninger

Every thriving community is pieced together by committed, compassionate members. In Henry County, some of these members make a difference through their service to HCCF.

Lisa Pfenninger began giving her time, talent, and treasure to the Foundation in the early 1990s. She first learned about the Foundation through her uncle, Tim Morris. When asked to join the Grants Committee, she knew it would be great to be part of the organization.

Lisa expressed, “I think what I like most about being a part of the Grants Committee is the fact that I never know where I’ll be going to do my research or who I will get to meet.”

Members of the Grants Committee are given applicants from the spring and fall grant cycles to meet with, interview, and report back on. Participating in this process has led Lisa all over Henry County. She shared, “My grant interviews have taken me everywhere, from hiking ankle-deep in the snow to talking with a gentleman about the importance of the preservation of Henry County’s prairies to discussions with daycare and preschool directors about the significance of early childhood education.”

Throughout her time serving, Lisa has felt blessed to partner with HCCF. She believes Henry County is fortunate to have caring, community-minded people working together at the Foundation.

“I have worked with many incredibly talented grants committee members, and I have had the opportunity to meet amazing people who are doing amazing work through their organizations.”

These amazing things that Lisa has been able to witness are only enhanced through the work of the volunteers like herself. While she feels blessed to be a part of the process, the Foundation is forever grateful for her service!
