Mildred Jean Denney, 89, of New Castle passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Henry County Hospital. She was born December 1, 1926 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Millard and Kate (Bridgeman) Piercy.
She was a hard worker and worked on the farm with her father and family in the fields. Jean retired from Bridgestone/ Firestone in Noblesville following 30 years of service. She was a member of Spiceland Eastern Star and a member of Foursquare Gospel Church for 55 years. She enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, and spending time outside. She loved to fish with her husband, and spending winters in Florida. Jean collected cardinals and old men and women figurines. She also enjoyed watching birds on the birdfeeders outside her sunroom.
Jean is survived by her children, Kathy (John) Rogers of New Castle; son, Dennis (Brenda) Denney of Shirley; grandson, John David Rogers of New Castle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Willard E. Denney; siblings, Gordon Piercy, Ala Piercy, Myrta Dalton, Flonnie Denney, Eva Dishman, Orel Piercy and Casto Piercy.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jim Becker officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
