Roy D. Jim Vogel- Oct 2015Roy D. “Jim” Vogel died unexpectedly October 14, 2015 in his New Castle Forest Ridge home. He was 87. Jim was born in 1928 in New Castle to Nova Brown Sells Vogel and Roy D. Sells, Sr. His step-father was Joe Vogel. After graduation from Knightstown High School he served two years in the United States Army. In 1951 he married the love of his life, Joan Leaser Vogel.

Following his military service, Jim was a state surveyor then worked at New Castle Chrysler Corporation as a skilled machinist. He eventually owned, operated and retired from J&M Tool and Engineering in Rushville, IN. After his retirement Jim worked at Plumbing Express in Sarasota, FL.

Jim was a sports enthusiast but his greatest love was Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. He was a faithful member of Foursquare Gospel Church.

Jim was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Brent Vogel in 1977; two sisters, Wanda Findora of Indianapolis and Norberta Urenda of Amarillo, TX.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan Vogel of New Castle; a son, J.B. Vogel (wife, Mindy) of Mays; a daughter, Janell Wardlow (husband, David) of New Castle; 4 grandsons, Greg Vogel of Greenfield; Doug Vogel of Chana, IL; Joel Wardlow and Alex Wardlow both of New Castle; sister, Betty Loyd of Dunreith; brother, Norman Vogel of Hollister, MO.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Foursquare Gospel Church with Pastor Jim Becker officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Community Foundation, 700 S.
