Sally Lou (Smiley) Meredith, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on November 11 in Rushville, a daughter of the late Gerald and Maxine (Walker) Smiley.
Sally was a 1960 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. She enjoyed antiquing and was gifted and well known for making “Santa Claus’s,” creating a different and special design each year as well as other Christmas ornaments. She lived in Dayton, Ohio for 40 years, returning to New Castle in 2004. Sally enjoyed gardening, growing herbs and flowers and making wreaths. Sally attended the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, David Meredith; a son, John (wife: Marcia) Meredith of Dublin, Ohio; a daughter, Angela (husband: Larry) Cameron of Upper Arlington, Ohio; grandchildren, Nick Meredith, Meredith Cameron, Cat Cameron, Andie Meredith, Hannah Cameron and Eme Cameron; brothers, John (wife: Anita) Smiley and Jeff (wife: Kathy) Smiley both of New Castle; a sister, Ann Stamps and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Claudia Rogers and Sue Clayborn.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at Sproles Family Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be offered to the Sally Smiley Meredith Named Fund through the Henry County Community Foundation.
