Description:
This scholarship was established in 1997 in memory of Irvin A. Fahr and Leona Fahr and their interest in the young people of Crawford County by their children Martha Jean Fahr Overmyer and Irvin “Bill” Fahr.
The award is a one year scholarship to a senior from Crawford Jr.-Sr. High School with an accumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and enrolled in an accredited college or university in a four or five-year program. The scholarship may be renewed annually until completion of the baccalaureate degree providing the expected academic standards have been met by the scholarship recipient.
Applications will be reviewed by the “Selection Committee” emphasizing:
Prime Considerations:
GPA of 3.0 or better on a scale of 4.0
In top 20% of class
Acceptance to a four or five-year program at an accredited college or university
Good citizenship as verified by letters of recommendation
Financial need
Secondary Considerations
Involvement in extra curricular activities other than athletics (Involvement I athletics is not to be considered an “minus”)
Involvement in community affairs and clubs, especially service activities or clubs
Active member of a church and church youth group
Will attend a State of Indiana accredited college or university
Demonstration of perseverance and potential

A transcript of your grades
Financial assistance questionnaire
Letters of recommendation from TWO persons who are personally acquainted with you. (ie., HS Principal, Guidance Counselor, Teacher)
Copy of letter of acceptance
Majority opinion of the “Selection Committee” will select one or more recipients annually, depending upon available income.
Scholarship Award Range- $$
If student does NOT attend a university or college, all money awarded shall be reimbursed to the scholarship fund.
Payments will be paid in one installment at the beginning of the fall semester after the student has turned in a thank you note to the Foundation Office.
IMPORTANT: The Henry County Community Foundation will not send checks to the college choice until a thank you has been received at the foundation, addressed to the individual provided on the award letter. The foundation will mail the thank you note/card to the appropriate individual.
The scholarship recipient will be recognized at the honors convocation at Crawford County Jr-Sr High School.
