Cancer can target anyone at any time. While cancer patients are focusing on their health and undergoing medical treatment, the bills can start to stack up, creating another load to bear. What can be done to ease some of these burdens?
The Cancer Society is here to help! Caring community members have worked together to establish a fund to assist those impacted by cancer.
This work began back in the 1970s when Rosemary Muncy opened the Henry County Cancer Society. Though she has since passed away, her generosity lives on through a fund created at the Henry County Community Foundation. Now, a yearly payout is given to the Henry County Cancer Society to assist cancer patients in our community.
Currently leading the way is a group of devoted community members. Nancy Lewis, Wendy Padgett, Holly Guffey, Nora Rust, and Krista Gibson combined their minds and spirits to bring back this organization. Nancy shared, “Our goal is to partner with other local agencies involved with cancer assistance to utilize all resources available to help those in need. I want the community to know that resources are available for them through this fund.” We are also pursuing grants that will assist women with mammograms.
