Virginia “Louise” Crowe, 96, of New Castle, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, January 4, 2024, at her son’s home.

She was born on May 24, 1927, in Farmers, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Arthur and Lucille (O’Casey) Alley.

Louise was a 1945 graduate of Cadiz High School. She married the love of her life, Malcolm J. Crowe, on December 2, 1947. Louise was a homemaker and, for the past 30 years, worked with her son, Roger, at Western Products where she managed the Trolly Department and often manufactured 2,000 trollies per day at her own workstation. Louise was tireless and possessed an unbeatable work ethic, working 48 hours each week until just before last Thanksgiving.

Louise was a long-time member of the New Castle First Christian Church. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and especially camping, having camped in each of the 48 continental United States. Louise loved to garden and grew beautiful flowers. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent pie maker. Louise loved rock’n’roll music, especially The Eagles, and was very happy recently to attend one of their concerts with her family.

Louise lived a long, full, and productive life and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Louise’s memory include her three children, James A. Crowe, MD, (wife: Phyllis Lynn), of Anderson, Nannett (husband: Doug) Polk and Roger K. Crowe, both of New Castle; four grandchildren, Casey (Casey) Polk, Sara (Bob) Mueller, Matthew A. Crowe, and Victoria (Alex) Carter, all of New Castle; seven great-grandchildren, Rayne Polk, London Polk, Paxton Mueller, Tristan Mueller, Willow Crowe, Robert Carter, and Magnolia Carter, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm J. Crowe, in 1990, and two sisters, Naomi Riggs and Iris Lewis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Rick Schoeff presiding. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.

Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
