Have you ever wondered what the Henry County Community Foundation (HCCF) does? Maybe you’ve heard of HCCF when a student receives the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. Perhaps you’ve seen a Choose Henry Grant Recipient sign. Or possibly you have never heard of us before. That’s okay! I’m here to share with you the great work of the Foundation.
The Henry County Community Foundation began in 1985 as a steward in philanthropy. We have 579 individual funds established by donors for causes of their choosing. These funds are endowed and grow forever. Each year, the payout from the endowment makes an impact in Henry County through grants and scholarships.
A total of 8 grant cycles and two scholarship seasons are completed throughout the year, spreading funding into a wide range of areas in the community.
Over time, HCCF has been a part of several large projects that have significantly impacted our community. We’ve partnered in the completion of the Henry County Ivy Tech Campus, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, the Wilbur Wright Trail, the Arts Park and Pavilion, the Sunset Park Splash Pad, and many more programs.
None of this would be possible without the generous giving of our donors and the commitment of our volunteers.
A Board of Directors gives their time, talent, and treasure to keep the Foundation wheels running in your community. Most members also serve with other volunteers on one or more of our four committees. These volunteers ensure the Foundation continues to serve our community well.
This month, I’ll be sharing with you about a volunteer who has been serving with the Foundation for many years, steering HCCF to help where the needs are greatest, and the benefits to the community and its citizens are most substantial.
