Jaci Hadsell arrived in New Castle in 1981 as a young educator, excited to shape the lives of students through music. She began her teaching career as a choir director at the 7th Grade Building and Parkview Jr. High School, later returning to New Castle as the Director of Vocal Music—a role she considered her dream job. Over the years, she transitioned into school counseling and, eventually, school administration, serving as principal of New Castle Middle School for 17 years. Throughout her career, she remained deeply committed to helping students succeed.
Early on, Jaci sought guidance from Herb Bunch at the Henry County Community Foundation. She knew little about the organization at the time, but Herb assured her, “The Foundation will be one of the greatest assets for Henry County for many years to come.” She quickly realized how true those words were, securing grants that enriched her students’ experiences and provided much-needed support for school programs.
As her career evolved, so did her connection to the Foundation. When her own children benefited from Foundation scholarships, she knew it was time to give back in a meaningful way.
After her mother’s passing, Jaci and her sister, Judy Hubbard, established the Letha Taylor Memorial Nursing Scholarship to honor their mother’s legacy as a nurse and mentor. Through the Foundation, they ensured future nursing students would have financial support for years to come.
Last spring, Jaci created the Jaci Hadsell Education Fund to help New Castle Middle School students facing financial barriers. Beginning in 2026, this fund will provide assistance to ensure students don’t miss out on opportunities due to financial constraints.
Jaci’s experience shows that the Henry County Community Foundation is a force for good that touches lives in countless ways. “Over the years, I’ve been privileged to witness the Foundation’s impact on our community, from supporting events like the Back to School Festival to contributing to the renovation of Bundy Auditorium. Herb Bunch was right when he said the Henry County Foundation would be one of our community’s greatest assets. His words have proven true time and time again,” she reflected.
For Jaci, donating to the Foundation is about more than giving; it’s about making a real difference in the place she calls home. Her story proves that when we give as a community, we build a future that benefits everyone.
