The Henry County Community Foundation (HCCF) board of directors has awarded $158,386 to 23 organizations serving Henry County residents. The purpose of these grants is to assist local nonprofits to promote and support social services, arts and culture, health and recreation, civic affairs, and the educational needs of Henry County residents.
The grants were made out of the Choose Henry Flex Fund, which was established by generous donors across Henry County to help address local needs and enhance our community. Every dollar donated to the Choose Henry Flex Fund makes a difference. The needs in the county are always changing, making the Choose Henry Flex Fund an essential part of our community.
The following grants are awarded through the Choose Henry Flex Fund, supporting the following categories:
CULTURAL AFFAIRS:
Cardinal Greenways: $2,500 for trail care and maintenance.
Henry County Friends of Memorial Park: $15,000 to refurbish 200 picnic tables and 30 stand-alone benches throughout the park.
New Castle Little League: $3,000 to continue the remodel of the upper diamond.
New Castle Main Street: $10,000 for a strategic plan to grow existing programs.
EDUCATION:
HOPE Initiative/Alliance 4 Youth & Families: $13,200 for pre-K curriculum for 60 students and scholarships to provide ongoing training for early childhood educators.
SOCIAL SERVICES:
Aspire Indiana: $1,000 to promote the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Program (WIPA) in Henry County.
Developmental Services, Inc.: $3,000 to expand the employment program and client outings to develop social, interpersonal, and cognitive skills.
Family Services and Prevention Programs: $6,000 to replenish inventory for the Baby Bucks program.
First Christian Church: $6,000 to upgrade technology to livestream events and provide office space to area nonprofits.
The Guest House: $5,000 to purchase new refrigerators.
Kiwanis Club of Henry County: $10,000 to provide 500 pairs of shoes and socks to local children in need.
Raintree Friends Housing: $12,000 to repair ceiling, dish machine, and professionally clean and paint the kitchen.
The Salvation Army of Henry County: $10,000 to expand the Pathway to Hope program.
Victory Lane Camp: $10,000 to expand existing programs.
HEALTH AND MEDICAL:
Academy Place Apartments: $5,000 for cleaning materials and supplies to combat COVID-19 and to purchase a medical trauma kit.
Interlocal Community Action Program: $10,000 to continue providing an RN to work with local hospital to provide lifesaving screening and diagnostic procedures for women’s health.
Southwest District Ambulance Service: $10,000 to continue services to residents in southwest Henry County.
CIVIC AFFAIRS:
Dunreith Volunteer Fire Department: $2,251 to purchase a sabre tooth chain saw to aid in vehicle extractions during auto accidents and structure fires.
Knightstown Cemetery Board: $10,000 for technology upgrade and new software.
Knightstown Public Library: $6,000 to upgrade hardware, software, and Wi-Fi capabilities.
Lewisville Community Park: $1,000 to install a 9-hole disc golf course at the park.
New Castle Community Schools: $4,200 to provide a seizure readiness kit for all schools in New Castle Community School Corporation.
Spiceland Township Public Library: $3,235 to replace water heater, repair plaster walls and seal outside bricks.
